Question:
Can you please help me to configure the m4 ecu in the case when there is no Camshaft Sync sensor but there is 6 COP ignition (individual coils)?
I have only 4 aux`s: 1 for FP relay, 2 for idle control, 3 of slave idle control, 4 for last IGN4.
Is it possible to do this ? Or without sync signal it is needed to control COPs by the only IGN1 output? What solution needed in that case?
Answer:
Can it be done? Yes, but you will send more time and effort to get it working well, than the cost of replacing the M4 with a modern ECU that can directly control all of the injectors and coils.
You will need an IEX, this must be wired to IGN1 to work correctly. The injectors can be wired as batch fired and the number of cylinders would be set to -6 to enable 2 stroke mode. The IEX works by decoding a signal sent on the IGN_1 output if the Ignition Type is set to 100.
The ignition coils can either be wired as Sequential or Wasted Spark, it is not possible to batch fire ignition coils.
The IEX is not an ignition ignitor, so if "dumb" coils are being used with it, you also need to use external ignitors, "smart" coils can be wired directly to the IEX.
