To configure a MoTeC Colour Display to use Display Creater, the following step need to be taken.
If you have an existing configuration that you want to keep, save this and then create a new configuration from this by renaming the file.
In Display Setup, select the Edit... dropdown and click on Remove to delete the Internal Display (Fixed Layout) selection.
Click Yes to confirm this deletion
Click the Edit... dropdown again to select Internal Display (using Display Creator).
Once this is selected, the Display Setup will look like this. this is where you add the channels that you want to appear in Display Creator. Click on the Add button to add the channels
Once you have added the required channels, click on the Page Selection tab.
Fill in the Number of Pages selection, this should match the number of pages in your project and may need to be updated once you have finished the Display Creator Project. Also configure the Page Channels and Output Channels options as well.
In the Options tab, typically this will be left as default. The default setting uses the file name of the Dash Manager file that you save.
Save the Dash Manager file using the normal process. This file needs to be saved to generate the .dbc file that Display Creator uses, if the file is not saved, then you will not be able to proceed with the next steps in Display Creator.
This file needs to be sent into the Dash through Dash Manager for Display creator to work correctly.
In Display Creator, select New to create a new project.
Select the Hardware Type that you are using.
Select either an empty template or start from an existing template and colour scheme.
In the Communications tab, click on the Import DBC File
Select the dbc file that matches the name of the Dash Manager file that you create before.
Selecting the file will show the channels being imported, for most users, this does not need to be changed, click the OK button to
Once this is done, these channels will be available for use in Display Creator.
If you want to add or remove channels in Display Creator, go to Dash Manager and edit the Display Setup channel list. When you save this and have Display Creator open, Display Creator will detect this change and prompt you to update the file. Any changes made here also need to be sent into Dash.
