Question:
I require some assistance with my M48 unit. I have recently installed a new Throttle Position Sensor (TPS), which is a superseded model and consequently shows different readings compared to the original sensor.
Up until now, I have not personally adjusted the M48 settings, as I have always relied on the tuner mapped configuration. However, I would now like to recalibrate the new sensor myself. I have done some preliminary research but have found very little information suitable for someone new to this process. Would anyone be able to guide me through the steps involved? I have the necessary cable and an old laptop available. Do I need to download any specific software to proceed? Thank you in advance for your help.
Answer:
To begin with, you will need to download the M48 EMP (Engine Management Program) software from here. This is the latest version of the EMP software. If you already have an earlier version installed on your M48 unit, the system will prompt you to update it. In that case, you can download the required updated version from the Downloads page on the official MoTeC website.
Once you have successfully installed the software (please note that it requires a Windows 7 32-bit or older operating system), you should connect your M48 to your laptop using the PCI cable. After establishing a connection, navigate within the software to the Sensor Setup section, then select Throttle Position. Here, you will be able to set the High and Low positions for your throttle sensor, effectively recalibrating the TPS to work correctly with your new sensor.
