This guide shows the recommend method to configure Knock control system. Clicking each item (M1 Tune v1.5 only) will select the item and allow you to enter the required information. Once an item has been selected the help, for that item, can be displayed by hitting the F1 key.
For the knock system to function the following conditions must be met:
- Knock Mode must not be Not in Use and at least one of the enabled frequencies must be greater than zero.
- Knock Cylinder N Resource defines which knock sensor is used for each cylinder.
- Knock Cylinder N Gain must be greater than zero for each cylinder.
- At least one of the knock frequencies, for example Knock Frequency A, must be greater than zero. Dependent on the value of Knock Mode, the knock levels of all enabled knock frequencies greater than zero are considered; the highest knock level for each cylinder is reported in Ignition Cylinder N Knock Level and used to adjust ignition timing.
- Knock Activate Delay table should be non-zero.
- Knock Threshold table should be non-zero.
- Knock Recovery Rate table should be non-zero.
- Knock Trim Gain table should be non-zero.
- Knock Trim Limit table should be non-zero.
- Knock Window Start should reflect typical crank angle where knock may first be evident (typically 10°ATDC).
- Knock Window Width table should be set to 60 degrees at all engine speeds.
Knock control is disabled for Knock Activate Delay when an ignition cut or fuel cut event occurs. This is reflected in Knock State.
